Wannado City
is the first indoor role-playing theme park, just for kids, located at Sawgrass Mills Mall in the city of Sunrise in the Greater Fort Lauderdale area. Here, kids make the important decisions and learn independence, patience and the value of making choices. Wannado City is the size of three football fields and kids can choose from 250 different “careers.” There is an entertainment park at Wannado City, with a fire station and police station, a hospital, bank, flight training center, circus, theater, television studio, radio station, fashion house, dance club and newspaper office. It’s specifically designed to inspire kids, ages 4 to 11, to “play grown-up” and live out their dreams within a realistically designed “city.” Wannado City even has its’ own monetary system. Personal strollers and wheelchairs are welcome in the park, and no running, pushing or rough play is permitted. Pets, bicycles, skates are not permitted and no food or beverages can be brought into the park. Wannado City is open year-round, seven days a week from 10:00a.m to 9:00p.m. General admission tickets are $34.95 for children 3-14 years of age and $15.95 for ages 14 and over. Children under 3 are free.

Wannado City Attractions
Upon entering Wannado City, each “kidizen” will receive a check for “Wongas,” the city’s official currency. The child can then decide how to use the currency, either by setting up a bank account, spending the “cash” at various city entertainment options or earning more at the various career options offered. Once a child runs out of currency, they select a new career to earn more.
There are no thrill rides at Wannado City. Grown-ups are a supporting cast only. Children are encouraged to choose their own experiences, such as being a firefighter or policeman for the day, go on an archaeological dig, star in a Broadway play, or work in the kitchen and learn to make pizza. There are 250 different career options from which to choose. Individual activities can take between 15 to 40 minutes, and parents can help by being patient and encouraging their child to decide what to do or to repeat a favorite experience. Grown-ups can also help by allowing a “kid journalist” to interview them, agree to be taken to “court,” or they can take a break in the grown-ups lounge while their kids explore all the wonderful different career options.
As each group enters the park, they receive a “WannaFinder” locator bracelet. There are kiosks set up throughout the park and this allows you to keep track of members of your group at all times. Upon exiting, children may only leave if accompanied by an adult member of their group. Unaccompanied “kidizens” may be left in the park if they are eight years of age or older. Adults who are leaving and returning later must speak with a “WannaHelper” at the exit to make arrangements.
Wannado City also offers a variety of dining options. There are several restaurants and a Food Court that serves hamburgers and shakes, pizza, fresh salads and more.
Wannado City History
Wannado City opened at the Sawgrass Mills Mall in Sunrise, Florida in the spring of 2004 with more than 60 venues on more than 140,000 square feet. Called “an interactive entertainment experience for kids,” it is aimed at children ages 4 to 11, but promises family-friendly entertainment experiences for everyone. Wannado Entertainment's vision was to empower kids through the creation of reality-based, interactive activities that would both entertain and educate. Based in the Greater Fort Lauderdale area, the company is a subsidiary of multinational entertainment corporation CIE (Corporación Interamericana de Entretenimiento, S.A. de C.V.)
Plans are underway for future Wannado City™ locations in top U.S markets, including the New York tri-state area, with additional locations set to be announced.
